How We Operate and What You Can Expect From Speechless Sportfishing

This page covers how we run our business, how we treat our customers, and what commitments we stand behind. We put this in writing because words are easy. Policies that are published, specific, and verifiable are what actually build trust.

Code of Conduct: How We Operate

Safety is the first priority on every trip. Period.

If weather conditions are unsafe, we will cancel or reschedule your trip. Captain Ron makes the final call on all weather decisions, and that call is always based on safety, not on whether we will lose revenue.

We treat every angler like a guest, not a transaction.

Whether you have fished offshore a hundred times or this is your first trip, you will be treated with patience, respect, and genuine enthusiasm for putting you on fish.

We are honest about expectations.

If the bite has been slow, we will tell you.

If conditions look marginal, we will give you a straight answer.

We would rather set honest expectations and exceed them than overpromise and disappoint.

Licensing and Insurance

Captain Ron Edwards is a United States Coast Guard 100-Ton Master Captain.

Speechless is inspected by the United States Coast Guard every two years and meets all required commercial and charter vessel safety standards.

The vessel undergoes both a Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Examination and an Uninspected Passenger Vessel Examination to ensure it is operating safely and meeting all required regulations.

  • North Carolina For-Hire Permit
  • North Carolina Land and Sell Permit

We believe safety is part of professionalism. Every trip begins with making sure our guests, crew, and vessel are fully prepared before leaving the dock.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

Weather or Boat-Related Cancellations

If Speechless Sportfishing cancels a trip due to unsafe weather, mechanical issues, or boat-related issues, your deposit is 100% refundable.

You will also have the option to reschedule to another available date if you prefer.

The captain makes the final weather call, usually the evening before or early morning of your trip.

Customer Cancellations

Trips canceled 14 days or more before the scheduled charter date will receive their deposit back.

Trips canceled within 14 days of the scheduled charter date may result in loss of the deposit.

No-Shows

If you do not show up for your scheduled charter and do not contact us ahead of time, the trip will be considered a no-show and your deposit will not be refunded.

Pricing and Booking Ethics

The price we quote is the price you pay.

We do not add hidden fees after booking.

We do not use bait-and-switch pricing.

Our charter rate of $2,400 includes:

  • Rods, reels, and tackle
  • Bait
  • Fuel
  • Fishing licenses
  • Captain and mate
  • Ice and coolers for your catch

The only additional cost is the customary mate tip, which is typically 18% to 20%.

If pricing changes in the future, it will be updated on our website before you book, not after.

Communication Standards

When you book a trip on Speechless, the captain will personally call you the day before your charter to confirm departure time, discuss conditions, and answer any questions.

If you contact us through the website, email, or social media, we aim to respond within 48 hours.

After your trip, we follow up to make sure you had a great experience and help with anything you need, from fish processing recommendations to leaving a review.

Environmental Practices

We follow all NOAA, North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries, and federal fishery regulations, including catch limits, size restrictions, and seasonal closures.

Captain Ron explains all regulations for the species we are targeting so you understand why some fish are kept and others are released.

We practice responsible harvesting and respect the fishery because protecting it today is what allows future generations to enjoy it tomorrow.

Certain species may need to be released depending on regulations, quotas, fish size, or seasonal conservation requirements.
